The Concept:Why not stay in one place for a little longer? Makutsi Safari Country:Makutsi enjoys over 12000 ha of African Nature in which we can take our clients on open Landrover Game Drives. Most of your African Wildlife can be found here, including the Big 5. Our guides are trained to focus on all aspects of nature though, as there is so much more to offer than just these 5 species. As it is a private Game Reserve there are certain strict rules. Only experienced and qualified guides are allowed to drive, allowing for professional conduct and respect of the natural environment and its wildlife. Because of this there are excellent chances to observe the wildlife in a very relaxed manner. Another rule is that no more than 2 vehicles are allowed to be with any animal at once, again giving them much space and respect, and allowing our clients spectacular sightings. Surrounding Makutsi are many beautiful and famous landmarks including the Kruger National Park and the Blyde River Canyon. A visit to an authentic Sotho Tribal Village gives you a taste of the local culture and its people. These day excursions are conducted in comfortable, closed mini-buses. |

The Lodge:Guests stay in African style Rondavels (Bungalows), scattered around the open and spacious Makutsi Camp. All Rondavels have en-suit bathrooms, electricity, a mini-bar, coffee/tea facilities and a fan. The camp is open to the surrounding area, so no fence that keeps the wildlife out, which allows for a very real experience. At the same time, this also means certain guidelines have to be followed, i.e. no walking during certain hours. During these hours, clients are taken to and from their Rondavels in an open vehicle, a little safari in itself. The gold of Makutsi is our natural, warm mineral spring water. This water can be enjoyed in our 33m outdoor pool, and indoor Roman Bath. This allows for a perfect way of relaxing and recharging your batteries in between the safari and excursion adventures. The same water also feed the Rondavels, and healthy mineral water pours out of your showers and taps. The Family:Makutsi has been owned and managed by the Weber family since the late 70’s, and over the years Makutsi and its surrounding area has developed into a prime Wildlife Conservation Reserve. The family is involved in every aspect of the business, and a relaxed atmosphere and personal touch is felt very strongly during your stay. Information you get is first hand, and the enthusiasm and consistency in running Makutsi has been rewarded with many loyal clients over the years. |
